Consul General Liang Caide Paid Farewell Call to Minister of Local Government and Housing in Sabah Masidi Manjun

On April 12, Chinese Consul General in Kota Kinabalu, Liang Caide, paid a farewell call to Minister of Local Government and Housing and Second Minister of Finance in Sabah, Malaysia, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.

Liang briefly reviewed the fruitful achievements in exchanges and cooperation between China and Sabah in various fields in recent years. He said that since taking office as the Consul General, he has spared no effort to promote Sabah to China, actively strengthen the friendship between the people of China and Sabah. China and Sabah have made positive progress in economic and trade cooperation.  In the joint fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the brotherhood of the two places characterized by sharing weal and woe has been shown.  He himself also made many close friends like His Excellency the Minister.  Liang thanked Masidi for the emphasis on developing friendly relations with China and the strong support for the Chinese Consulate.  He said that he cherished the profound personal friendship with His Excellency the Minister very much. No matter where he is in the future, he will always care about Sabah's development and the cooperation between China and Sabah, and welcome Mr. Minister to visit China after the epidemic.

Masidi spoke highly of Liang's great work in promoting Sabah-China friendship and the exchanges and cooperation between the two places during tenure, and thanked the Chinese government and people for their valuable support in Sabah's fight against the pandemic.  He was sincerely happy to have such a good friend and brother as Consul General Liang, and was deeply regretful for Liang's departure.  He pointed out that Mr. Liang not only enjoys high prestige in the local Chinese community, but also gets along very well with people of all ethnic groups in Sabah.  Consul General’s friendly, diligent and pragmatic image not only left a deep impression on him, but also enhanced the awareness and amicable feelings towards China from all walks of life in Sabah.  Masidi hopes that in the future, Sabah and China will continue to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, especially in oil and gas extraction and other fields. He welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest in Sabah and more Chinese tourists to return to Sabah.  He looks forward to meeting Consul General Liang again to renew their friendship.

The two sides also had deep conversations on topics such as global hot issues, China-Malaysia relations, and cooperation in pandemic prevention and control.
