On 17th October, Consul General Zhu Xinglong attended the award presentation ceremony of the 5th “China-Sabah Friendship” Essay Competition. The event was attended by approximately 150 guests, including Datuk Tiong Tan Hua, President of Asia Times; Tan Sri Datuk Paul Lim Pau Chang, Permanent Honorary Chairman of Kian Kok Middle School, as well as winning authors and judges.

In his remarks, Consul General Zhu noted that the “China-Sabah Friendship” Essay Competition has been successfully held for five consecutive years. From its humble beginning to growing participation of young friends today, the competition has documented stories of exchanges between China and Sabah. The entries submitted this year not only reflect enthusiasm of contestants of learning Chinese language and culture, but showcase the unique characteristic of Sabah where multiple cultures coexist in harmony. He expressed hope that through series of events, China-Sabah friendship will continue to grow through exchanges, deepen through understanding, and be passed down from generation to generation.
