On 31 August, Consul General Zhu Xinglong attended the state-level National Day Celebration. Also in attendance are over ten thousand people including Sabah Head of State, TYT Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr.) Musa bin Haji Aman, Chief Minister, YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji bin Haji Noor, members of state government cabinet, representatives of various departments, consular corps in Sabah, and the public from various sectors.

During the celebration, a national and state flag-raising ceremony was held by the state government. Invited guests and citizens of all ethnic groups watched cultural performances and contingent parades together to grandly celebrate the 69th anniversary of the independence of the Federation of Malaysia.
