As the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China is approaching, on behalf of all my colleagues in the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, I wish the great motherland a happy birthday! And I would like to extend my sincere greetings and heartfelt thanks to friends from all walks of life who have long been concerned about China's development, and committed to China-Malaysia friendship and China-Sabah cooperation!
2021 is a year of milestone in the history of the new China. We solemnly celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. We successfully achieved the first centenary goal. We completed in building a moderately prosperous society in all-aspects nationwide, and historically eliminated the absolute poverty. Striving to reach the second centenary goal, we are now moving towards in high spirit to completely building a modern and powerful socialist country. As a Chinese diplomat on the front line, I am full of pride and emotion. Not only I am proud of the great achievements of the motherland, but also full of confidence in the beautiful future of the motherland.
2021 is a year of extraordinary in the history of the development of the new China. Under the strong leadership of the Party’s Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, the Chinese government and the people have launched a series of great struggles in fighting against the pandemics, floods, solving crisis and responding to emergency. Major results were achieved in science and technology innovation, with reports of new success keep pouring in from the field of Mars exploration, manned space flight project, chip research and development, nuclear fusion research and others. Reform is further deepening, opening up is expanding, new development paradigm is accelerating, high-quality economic development is being promoted, and a good start is achieved in the "14th Five-Year Plan". In the first half of this year, GDP grew by 12.7% year-on-year, which is leading the world. In the battle against the centenary pandemic, China upholds the concept of building a community of common health for mankind, continues to carry out the largest foreign humanitarian assistance since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It took the lead in implementing the world’s largest vaccine cooperation, and made important contributions to the world in anti-pandemic and forming immune barrier.
2021 is also a year of fruitful achievements in terms of China-Malaysia and China-Sabah cooperation. Since the beginning of this year, China and Malaysia have accelerated the joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative, actively carried out vaccine cooperation and joint prevention and control in anti-pandemic, interpreting the brotherhood of sharing joys and sorrows with practical actions. The cooperation between the two sides has maintained a strong momentum and bursts of new vitality. In the first half of the year, the bilateral trade volume between China and Malaysia reached US$81.79 billion, a year-on-year increase of 43.9%, setting a new historical record; non-financial direct investment by Chinese companies in Malaysia was US$800 million, a year-on-year increase of 76.3%. As an important node of the "Maritime Silk Road" in the 21st century, Sabah is an ideal investment hot spot for Chinese companies. The exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two places are continuously deepening and showing great potential. This year marks the first year of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, and the Sabah state government has also issued the “Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan 2021-2025”. China and Sabah can synergize in-depth connectivity in many fields such as infrastructure construction, digital economy, and modern agriculture as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

The Consulate General always cares about your health and safety, and makes every effort to promote the smooth operation of the "Spring Sprout" program to assist and secure vaccination for our citizens with Chinese or foreign vaccines in Sabah. During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, many citizens were unable to reunite with their relatives due to the pandemic. Allow me to take this opportunity to extend my holiday greetings to all the citizens in the consular district, thank you for your love for the motherland and dedication for the local. The Consulate will always be your warm home, and we will always accompany and guard you.

Time stays for no man. Looking back on the past, how fervent we have moved forward and how many dreams have come true as written in the glorious history of the new China and integrated into the collective memory of hundreds of millions of people. Looking at the present, we are more confident, more capable and closer to achieve the great goal of national rejuvenation than at any time in history .
The Chinese Consulate General will continue to work closely with the government of Sabah-Labuan and all walks of life to further enhance the level of exchanges and cooperation between the two places in various fields, and benefit the peoples of the two places.
