Notice on implementation of E-application Form and Online Appointment Application System for Chinese Visa

The Consulate General of People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu will implement the Chinese visa E-application form and visa online appointment system on August 8th 2022. The details of the notice are as follows:


(1)Implementation period


1.On August 8th 2022,the consulate would do the trial-run to the E-application form and visa online appointment system. Between 8th until 21st August 2022, applicants can either use this new implementation or make appointment through email to apply for visa.


2.From August 22nd, all the applicants are required to apply China visa with the E-application form and visa online appointment system, and the consulate would no longer accept appointments made by emails.


(2)Application process


1.Documents Verification: Applicants are suggested to consult the consulate by phone or email regarding the visa types and material requirements, and send their application materials to the consulate’s email for verification. If the documents’ verification are accurate and complete, then applicants may proceed to apply online

2.Fill in the E-application form online: Visa applicants (excluding those applying for Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR visas) can access and fill out the E-application forms at http://cova.mfa.gov.cn, and print out the confirmation page and the full application form (8 pages in total). Afterwards,sign both on the confirmation page and the application form.

3.Make online appointment: After completing the above steps, the applicant needs to enter the website http://avas.mfa.gov.cn to make an appointment to come to the consulate to process the visa application. If the date falls on statutory holiday, please  reschedule the another date.

4.Submit at the Visa Office Front Counter: After the appointment is successfully made, the applicant could bring confirmation page, full application form, original passport, ID photo and other application materials to the consulate visa office for application processing.


(3)Matters require attention:


1.In order to ensure the smooth application of the visa, applicants should carefully check whether the information filled in the form is accurate and precise, and make sure that the uploaded photos are of yourself, and avoid special situations such as cluttered backgrounds, weird expressions, wearing hats and so on. 

2.The consulate may or will adjust the appointment time according to situation. The actual appointment date and time display on the appointment website http://avas.mfa.gov.cn shall prevail.

All Chinese visa applicants are advised to read the notice carefully in advance. If there is any discrepancy between the notice issued by the consulate and this notice, the notice shall prevail. The right of interpretation belongs to the Chinese Consulate General in Kota Kinabalu.
